    Short-Term Analysis

From Thursday onwards the focus shifts to a moderate, mid-latitude low shifting out from below Tasmania and out into the southern Tasman Sea. This source offers up the bare minimum of south swell potential for the region, with a dominant zonal (westerly) flow extending out of eastern Bass Strait offering minimal spread in directional south swell. That’s still pointing to a slight increase, probably undersized early on Thursday, ahead of a gradual uptick into the 1 to 2ft range across southern exposures during the afternoon. Keep in mind that’s likely to leave the majority of less-exposed open beaches with smaller, weaker surf wrapping in the 1ft range.

The tail-end of this pulse before quickly fading again on Friday; probably hanging in at a still fun-sized 1 to 2ft or so across southern exposures in the morning before dwindling in the afternoon – this will become clearer as the week progresses.
