  • Swell analysis

    Summary
Surf tends smaller off lingering mid period E swell and conditions show a stronger offshore wind trend emerging as winds tend from N to W Saturday, then SW on Sunday. Generally clean conditions with residual swell lead to fairly small but fair form.

From early to mid next week, the pre-existing, low-level easterly tradewind swell will gradually taper off and surf drops to small levels. Meanwhile, an eastward migration of mid-latitude lows in the Bass Straight will collaborating into a large centralized low pressure in the southern Tasman Sea Monday. Model runs continue to offer little certainty on how south swell will pan out from this evolving system. At this early stage, the favourable outcome would be a modest increase in SSE swell into the 2 to 3ft range across far northern NSW Wednesday, followed by a secondary pulse in long range South swell offering better mid period sets to 3 to 4ft on Thursday.
