Short-Term Analysis (through Saturday 31 October)

A solid round of south swell fills in across the region throughout Tuesday and eases Wednesday, favouring the more exposed northern NSW coast beaches for size and power on both days, while offering up notably smaller, fun-sized options north of Byron Bay.

Friday: A mix of fading SE swell and underlying ENE swell offer up small to tiny, but clean waves beneath light and varied WNW to WSW winds up to five knots, before deteriorating as they quickly pick up out of the NNE and NE up to 10-20 knots in the afternoon, freshening in response to a trough and low deepening over the southeast interior.

Saturday isn’t shaping up as a great day north of the border. Small east and SSE swells mix with rising NE windswell as a low over NSW interior approaches the coast from the west, inducing fresh northerly winds from early in the morning. They’re projected to fresh to 15-25 knots during the day – and that should see better options across far northern NSW sheltered northern corners, for wind-affected, but surfable waves in the knee to chest high range all day.
