HURRICANE FORCE WIND WARNING
Please be aware, wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the
averages given here, and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.
SITUATION
At 1800 UTC Severe Tropical Cyclone Marian was centred within 20 nautical miles
of
latitude eighteen decimal six south (18.6S)
longitude ninety decimal five east (90.5E)
Recent movement : slow moving
Maximum winds : 75 knots
Central pressure: 962 hPa
AREA AFFECTED
Within 110 nautical miles in NE quadrant
and within 170 nautical miles in SE quadrant
and within 140 nautical miles in SW quadrant
and within 110 nautical miles in NW quadrant.
FORECAST
Maximum winds to 75 knots near the centre easing to 60 knots by 1800 UTC 03
March.
Winds above 64 knots within 50 nautical miles in NE quadrant till 0000 UTC 03
March
and within 50 nautical miles in SE quadrant, contracting to 40 nautical miles

TROPICAL CYCLONE INFORMATION BULLETIN
Issued at 1:59 am WST on Wednesday 3 March 2021
Severe Tropical Cyclone Marian (Category 3) was located at 2:00 am AWST near
18.6S 90.5E, that is 990 km southwest of Cocos Island and slow moving. The
cyclone is currently moving slowly to the east and is expected to begin to move
to the southeast and gradually weaken as it moves over cooler waters during the
next 2 days.
The next Information Bulletin will be issued at 9 am AWST.
