One of those Days

SE Queensland had “ One of Those Days” on Sunday 14th May. The swell had built up on the previous couple of days, but it was a bit sloppy and full as it was coming off a big high pressure system and there was lots of rain. On Saturday night an upper level low pressure system, the first of the season, dropped off the coast and on Sunday morning we woke up to the classic Autumn surfing conditions.

The swell was clean and long lined out of the ESE in the 3-5ft range on the points, the winds were offshore from SSW first up, the tide was rising to a mid morning high and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. This is what Queensland surfers live for. There were high quality waves on all the Points from Noosa to Snapper Rocks and the quality continued on the more sheltered points later in the day as the wind went around to the SE.

Although big Sunday crowds were out in force, there were plenty of waves to go around and it felt like our Autumn wave season was here at last after a late start. It was a classic day on the Points, bring on lots more.
