SWELL DIARY | Tropical Cyclone Victor

The third cyclone of the year for Australia's Eastern Seaboard whipped up a nice weekend worth of waves. From the New South Wales south coast right up past the Sunshine Coast Queensland point breaks, bombies and reefs were pumping, with waves between 4-6 feet, some have been rated by locals as looking the best they've ever been.

The photo gallery above was provided by locals up and down the coast. If you've got photos or video from the weekend send them to editor@coastalwach.com.

Coastalwatch's Chief Forecaster, Ben Macartney said "Since Tropical Cyclone Victor formed over the Southwest Pacific on Friday 15 of January, it’s churned out long-period easterly groundswell for the East Coast for over a week. Over the course of the weekend TC Victor was downgraded to an extratropical low and on Sunday/ Monday it briefly reintensified; setting up yet another pulse of E swell inbound across the region later this week." To see the in-depth movement of TC Victor check out Ben Macartney's article.

*To see if the prolonged swell will hit your local visit your nearest forecast page, track the cyclone on the Coastalwatch Wave Tracker or set up your own personalised swell alerts on the new Hurley Coastalwatch App and Coastalwatch Plus account.
