Coastalwatch Skill Upgrade For Amazon Echo Spot

25 May 2018 3 Share

Voice command device takes surf checks to new levels of tech coolness and geekdom

The new Amazon Echo Spot is taking surf checks to the next level and Coastalwatch is on board to ensure surfers get to find better waves – from the comfort of their living rooms. (Or kitchen, or bedroom, or bathroom…)

The Coastalwatch team worked with VERSA, an awesome voice experience agency, to come up with an interactive surf check.

All you have to do is grab yourself a device and start talking. Kick off the convo with a casual, “Alexa, ask Coastalwatch…” and you can sort yourself out with all manner of info: how the tides are looking, the surf conditions and outlook at your preferred beach (we have 103 locations covered), the upcoming surf forecast and a detailed three day look at what’s in store.

Tricky lil’ Alexa will even remember your favourite beach and closest locations so you can focus your attention to contorting your body into your wettie as you listen in.

Created by surfers for surfers, this is truly a fresh way to interact with a voice led service. The Echo Spot is the first multi-modal device in market and also allows you to interact with images, gestures and check out vision. Put simply, it’s pretty cool.

If you have one already, check us out and feel free to leave a review or feedback. If you don’t, get your nerd on and make the daily surf check a new voice-commanded part of your day. Just imagine – yelling out for a surf check from the cosy cocoon of your doona and saving yourself a chilly footed check if it’s flat. “Alexa, hit snooze - again.”
