Cold and windy conditions greeted the girls today for the final stop of the PISBTW Surfing For Girls Tour Presented By Billabong. After 9 other locations throughout the state, Ocean Grove was the grand finale. The girls huddled on the beach at Ocean Grove to keep warm, however they were all keen to get out into the waves with the surf coaches.

With smaller than expected numbers due to the bad weather, the girls had more one on one time with the surf coaches giving the girls a much better experience.

With the Global Surf Industries board range on hand, along with local surf shop owner ‘Murph’ from “Murph’s Surf Shop”, the girls were able to test out some of the boards on offer, many of them took the opportunity to have a go on boards which they might not usually ride.

The girls where shown how to rescue an injured surfer or swimmer in the water and were provided with knowledge on how to become safe surfers. The girls then got a chance to show their skills and put some of their safe surfing knowledge to the test.

Tessie Madam walked away from the day with a GRLmobile show bag filled with GRLmobile prizes. While Vanessa Raniolo won a brand new surfboard courtesy of Global Surf Industries.

Formally known as the ‘Surf Jams’, the surfing for girls program is aimed at the female surfer who has passed through the learn to surf stage and who has their own equipment, i.e. surfboard and wetsuit.

All participants are expected to be able to swim 200 meters and it is recommended that participants have the basic surfing skills of being able to catch and ride an unbroken wave; however beginners are also catered for. Girls of all ages are encouraged to get involved and learn from some of the best in the state.

No girl will leave the beach empty handed, with a showbag for all participants containing a Billabong tee and lots of goodies from supporting sponsors such as "GRLmobile: Australia's Mobile Phone service for Chicks". Supporting sponsor, Global Surf Industries, will also be on hand with a selection of their finest boards for all of the girls to check out.

For $20, this is the best value girls surfing program in the country and is exclusive to Victorian girls.
