Quiksilver Jetty Surf Pro Junior set to kick off the ASP Australasian 2010 season

Coolangatta Queensland Wednesday October 21st: Immediate Release - The 2010 Association of Surfing Professionals Australasia (ASP Australasia) season will begin in early January with the re established Quiksilver Jetty Surf Pro Junior on Victoria’s Surf Coast.

For over 10 years a landmark event in ASP Australasia surfing and the opening of each year’s professional surfing season, The Quiksilver Jetty Surf Pro Junior has always delivered spectacular surf and the list of previous winners includes current world title contenders Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Bede Burbidge and Stephanie Gilmore!

ASP Australasia’s Tour Manager, Dane Jordan welcomed the event back on to the 2010 calendar after a one year hiatus saying “Bells Beach is one of the most iconic beaches in Australia and we are delighted to partner with two of Australia’s best known surf brands, Jetty Surf and Quiksilver, to kick off the world’s largest and richest ASP Pro Junior Series in style.”

“2010 is set to be the biggest year yet for the ASP Australasia Pro Junior Series with record levels of prize money and to have the Quiksilver Jetty Surf Pro Junior return to the calendar is a testament to the strength of junior surfing in Australasia.”

While autumn and spring season are generally recognized as prime time for the world famous Bells Beach surfing arena, January is a month that regularly produces big swells and classic summer conditions and it is the number one venue for next year’s Quiksilver Jetty Surf Pro Junior.

The back –up venue will be the ever consistent near-by beach break at Jan Juc and a super quality field of Australasia and many of the world’s best Pro Junior surfers are certain to put on a display of futuristic surfing.

Expect surfers like NSW’s Davey Cathels, Queensland’s Jack Freestone and Victoria’s Todd Rosewell along with Pro Junior Girls Laura Enever (North Narrabeen), Tyler Wright (Lennox Head) and Nikki Van Dijk (Phillip Island) to head up a superb field chasing the esteemed Quiksilver Jetty Surf title for 2010 along with the perfect start to their 2010 professional competitive season.

The event begins Sunday January 3rd with an event time frame running through to Thursday January 7th 2010.
