Dawn Sleepers, Sunset Creepers

Ry Craike, Matt Hoy, forty cartons of beer and ten days in a beachside mansion… it was a bold team-manager who organized the Electric crew’s assault on the NSW North Coast earlier this year. Luckily Craig Anderson, Dave Rastovich, James Woods, Soli Bailey and a solid dose of pumping surf were there to keep things on track…

Ando and Craikey paired up and kept hawking this little left wedge next to the breakwall. Hoy was in fine form, riding his first ever personally-shaped board, a round-tail based on the first board his father Brian made him.

Rasta brought his usual array of craft, and smooth surfing style - just being himself. Even without a board he managed to amuse himself (and impress everyone else) with his body-surfing. Meanwhile Ando and Craikey pulled out the big spins and hacks that constitute their approach.

Ever the comedian, Woody maintained his trademark running commentary, entertaining everyone with his uniquely irreverent take on life.

It was just one of those classic trips. Everyone got on well, no agenda or specific plans, plenty of beer... just sleep in, hunt waves all day, barbeque some meat of an evening and enjoyed a few beers on sunset. Then repeat.

Check out the film for interviews with Ando and Rasta, and special closing track from the original Morning of the Earth movie. "Open Up Your Heart" by G. Wayne Thomas is an all-time classic feel-good tune that still evokes the stoke all these years later. When MGMT visited Australia the other year the only autograph they wanted was G. Wayne's. Respect!
