Overview

Looking ahead in detail. Smaller, fun sized surf throughout the early stages of the forecast period prior to a larger pulse in extra long period SSW groundswell Friday, Saturday. Starting with Wednesday we are expecting to see fading levels of mid period SSW swell throughout the day. Exposed breaks should be picking up some decent sets in the 4ft+ range early before easing slowly. A steady trade wind pattern has remained with light ESE morning winds prior to shifting SE in the afternoon. Old SSW swell then bottoms out on Thursday under continued light to moderate trade winds. Hit up the more exposed breaks in the morning for some fun sized 2-4ft surf.

From here we are expecting to see strong inconsistent lines of building, extra long period SSW groundswell fill in throughout Friday (more size in the afternoon). This fresh pulse comes courtesy of an intense polar low currently tracking east of Heard Island. The system is expected to hold intensity as it tracks throughout our SSW swell window over the next 48hrs before being shadowed as it shifts below the W.A coast on Thursday. Dispersed energy within the 18-20second period range will make land fall into the day on Friday. Expect inconsistency as early forerunners show through the morning prior to bulk energy filling in later Friday and into Saturday morning. We should see clean 2-4ft surf early with inco plus sets rising steadily into the day. If your time poor (IE you have a massage booked or you are ducking of to Ubud for a stroll in the hills) then an afternoon surf will be the best time to hit it.

If you miss Friday all together then never fear as Saturday will be pumping…While nothing huge we are expecting to see strong peak energy in SSW groundswell within the 4-6ft+ range across exposed breaks, smaller elsewhere depending on exposure. Conditions hold clean throughout the day under a continued light/moderate trade wind pattern. Trailing energy in SSW groundswell is then expected to slowly ease off Sunday, 3-4ft+ down to around the 2-4ft range on Monday. Smooth clean conditions remain thus making for a decent run of fun sized surf.

Long Range

Looking further ahead, currently we are looking at period of small scale surf throughout the early stages of next week. A minor overlap in small SSW groundswell may show late Monday, Tuesday morning prior to bottoming out Tuesday afternoon 30/05. Beyond this distant energy in long period SW groundswell is then expected to show mid week, speculatively within the 3-4ft range. This mid sized pulse may hold for several days prior to easing off. Looking further ahead, long range modeling indicates a potential stronger pulse in extra long period SW groundswell making land fall between the 4-6th of June. Stay tuned, Indo forecast’s posted Tuesday’s.
