The Surf Dive n Ski Australian Junior Surfing Titles Get Six New Australian Champions
At Culburra Beach, NSW on Saturday the Surf Dive n Ski Australian Junior Titles wrapped up a week of fantastic competition by crowning six new Australian Champions in four to five foot surf at Warrain Beach.
The Under-18 Boys Australian Title was won by Noah Stocca of Peregian on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast after securing a 7.93 and a 7.00 in the final with Cyrus Cox of Margaret River in Western Australia.
Coolangatta kid, Piper Harrison is the new Under-18 Girls Australian Champion after attacking the punch left-handers in her final with Sasha Baker of Mudjimba, Queensland. The result comes of the back of a big result winning the Phillip Island Pro, a WSL QS 1,000 at the end of October.
It was Bondi’s Grayson Hinrich who took out the Under 16 Boy’s Aussie Title in a final with Seth Van-Haeften of Margaret River, Arch Whitman of Mona Vale on Sydney’s Northen Beaches and Codie Jeffrey from Newhaven on Phillip Island Victoria. Hinrich’s win makes him the first Aussie Champ to come out of Sydney’s Eastern suburbs since CT legend Tom Whitaker (of Bronte) over 20 years ago.
For the girls the new Under 16 Australian Champion is Molly Pickum from Shelly Beach on the Central Coast, NSW after a series of backhand snaps logged her a near-perfect 9.93 wave score in her final with Phillip Island’s Sage Goldsbury, Emma Cattlin from Yallingup, WA and Raya Campbell of Coolangatta, Queensland.
The Under 14 Australian Titles were won by Javis Earle of Cronulla on the boys’ side and Ellie Harrison of Barwon Heads, Victoria on the girls’ side.
