BL's Blastoff 2019 Kicks Off At Whaley

The 2019 Hurley BL’s Blast Off presented by Beecraft kicked off its 14th year Tuesday at Whale Beach on Sydney's Northern Beaches with 335 groms and gromlets who showed that the future of Australia’s surfing future is in good hands.
Waves were in the 2-4 foot range for kids to pick from, event was cranking for it’s first day at Whale Beach.
"Day 1! We are set up and running! Kids and families from all over Australia, Bali, America all over the place have joined us at Whale Beach, theres some fun little waves and everyones having a ball” said Barton.
BL's Blastoff is a special and unique event in that it's not about getting high scores. Throughout the entire week, kids will be videoed when they surf and have the opportunity to have professional post-heat analysis, in an encouraging and positive atmosphere, thanks to the Hurley Surf Club team.
“This kind of initiative is really what sets Blast Off apart from other kids events,” says Barton. “Many of these kids would never have had coaching or professional feedback on their surfing and this is the best way for them to be supported and experience that for the first time.”
