3 Reasons Why John Florence's Movie Will Change Surfing Forever

Forgive the ignorance, but besides the crazy hype that came with the anticipation of John (now just singular) Florence's feature film View From A Blue Moon, I was thinking 'probably just another surf movie'... Was shot down in flames... By everyone.

Turned up to said premiere. Line round the block, room stuffed with 'those surf industry folk' and Corona running freely amongst the frothing Wednesday crowd.

Cinema packs out, lights dim and heckles of stoke amp the audience.

John (still singular) Florence appears front-and-centre with a direct message to the Australian viewers.

Then suddenly, all pre-emptive vibes dissipate as a deep voiceover fills the room with some pretty funny background on the surf world's prodigal son. Kelly, his neighbour, wanted to have his tree house ripped down, J.O.B. belly laughs about tying his board to a tree. BOOM, surfing starts.

It's not just surfing, THIS is surfing. This is a surf movie on steroids, a full Hollywood-eske production run by the surfer himself that not only glorifies one of the world's best lifestyles but makes one of the world's most serious waves look like child's play. It brings to life a planet of dynamic beauty and if you've never had the travel bug, you're not going to know what hit you.

The moves, the camera work, the cinematography, the deep clarity, every inch of this super slick production is worth a look. If not to make you hungrier for waves than you have ever been, then to indulge your eyes, ears and brain into a pretty damn magical world that lifts surf production into a new era and forces a level that everyone's going to want to match, but probably won't come close to achieving.

The 3 things that will ensure this film is etched into the history books;

#TheSoundTrack - waiting for Spotify to upload already

#TheCinematography - next level

#TheSurfing - not just about the air game; it's smooth, powerful and extreme
