10 Things Surfing Gave The Internet
Arranged by Mike Jennings

1. Incredible New Wave In Angola

It's not that often we see footage of new waves,  and it's even less often they're as great as this reeling lefthander. The long (3 kilometres!) sandbottom African left is receiving a lot of comparisons to Namibia's Skeleton Bay for obvious reasons… which is also an obvious reason to click play.

2. Craig and Hayden – The Timeless Relationship of Surfer and Shaper

Who'd have thought a professional surfer talking about his different surfboards could be this entertaining. Craig Anderson speaks with his shaper, Hayden Cox of Hayden Shapes, while some of the best footage from his film Slow Dance plays. Very very good.

3. Trestles Starts This Sunday

Yay pro surfing. The Hurley Pro Trestles – one of the events touted as the arena for high performance young superstars, but is inevitably fought out between Kelly Slater and Joel Parkinson. Still, it's going to be rad, and these Red Bull 21 Days clips featuring Julian Wilson and Taj Burrow have been a great pre-cursor to the event. Did you know Taj is 35? What a freakish talent.

4. Spirit of Akasha Teaser…

This epic trailer for Andrew Kidman's Morning of The Earth tribute film, which premieres in Spain soon, is getting us so pumped. It's terribly rare for a modern surf film to have a sountrack written specifically for the film like this does, and that music over the trailer sounds like it might be the song Andrew Vanwyngarden from MGMT did for the film. So. Freaking. Good.

5. Andy Irons, Campaign 2

Thanks to Garage Entertainment, we've been counting down Taylor Steele's top 10 sections of all time. And this week we got to no. 1, which was Andy Irons in Campaign 2. Too great.

6. Jordy Lawler Season of Blues

We love Jordy Lawler, and we love strange edits. So it was inevitable that we'd love this strange edit of Jordy Lawler surfing around home this Winter. You might not like it, that's ok. Surfing is subjective. So are web edits of surfing. As long as we're all nice to each other and can all agree that surfing is great, we can all be good friends. Hooray.

7. Coral Cuts – A New Web Series of Sorts

In which some of the best surfers in the world answer some very good and funny questions, and some truly horrible ones too (comparing homosexuality to beastiality... ergh)

8. Surf Till Dark

A short beautiful surf clip offering some respite in the world of high flying pros and fast action. Get reminded how great and simple surfing is.

9. Ian Gentil In Big Mexico

The young American does the surfs with barrels. Excellent board riding with the water circles present in this edited motion picture.

10. Shipsterns Rides Again – Wade & Laurie & Kelly & Mark & Marti & Co

New footage from an old session at Shipsterns. That session from April with Kelly and Wade and Laurie and Mark and Tyler Hollmer Cross and Hippo and Marti and co. This clip comes from 15 year old Riley Laing. What a little legend.

Bonus...

Here's To The Handshapers – Our friends over at Monster Children made this sweet little movie about American surfboard makers Almond. "I think you can tell a lot about someone by their hands. All my friends that work with their hands have like busted knuckes and dirty fiungernails, it's awesome."

And that was this week in surfing. CW out.
